Best Steakhouses in Cleveland to Go When Your New Year’s Resolution is “Eat More Steak”

For New Year’s, you may resolve to exercise more, drink less beer, eat more salads, blah, blah. It just a matter of time (days or even hours) before those resolutions are broken. So why not make resolutions you can keep…like Eat More Steak.  Now there, that’s surely a resolution you can keep.

And if you’re eating more steak, you might as well make it good steak.

Here are six of the best steakhouses in Cleveland to go when your New Year’s resolution is “Eat More Steak.” If you’re going to keep that resolution, it’s advisable to get only the best red meat. Start making good on your resolution with this list.

Red, the Steakhouse. Playboy, Esquire and many other in-the-know publications have endorsed Red, the Steakhouse, and here’s why: all the beautiful pieces of meat served at Red, the Steakhouse, are aged a minimum of 28 days then seared in a super-hot broiler before being delivered to your table in a state of absolute perfection.  Meat is dressed in kosher salt, peppercorns and garlicky aglio. If you’re trying hard to keep your New Year’s resolution, Red, the Steakhouse is where you want to go.

Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse. You can get the excellent porterhouse and filet mignon, but at Hyde Park Prime House, it might be best to go with the superb cuts that are offered only at this legendary palace of prime meat. We’re talking about their Dry Age Reserve Prime Meats, like the 36-day aged bone-in ribeye and 40-day aged New York strip. This is the stuff of which well-kept New Year’s resolutions – and meaty dreams – are made.

XO Prime Steaks.  “Prime, all the time” is the mantra at XO Prime Steakhouse, a place that’s going to make your beef-centric New Year’s resolution even easier to keep.  You get your standard, undeniably excellent red meat cuts, but also an A-9 Wagyu ribeye from Greg Norman’s Australian ranch as well as an A-8 Wagyu tomahawk ribeye that will reset your standard for superior steak. If the servings feel a little big, take some home so you can have it for dinner tomorrow – keeping resolutions is a day-by-day challenge, but keep the faith: you can do it.

Strip Steakhouse. USDA prime beef is what you’re going to find at Strip Steakhouse but count on more than just strip steaks (though those are surely excellent).  Jake’s Steak is a butter basted top sirloin, Boilermaker is a 10 oz. center cut ribeye rubbed with sugar and spice, and Big Daddy is a 24 oz. porterhouse. See, keeping your New Year’s resolution is going to be more delicious than you might have thought.

The Diamond Grille.  Aged USDA prime steak is what you’ll find on your plate at The Diamond Grille, going strong since 1935. At this classic place, you’ll be able to get Royal Filet Mignon and Extra Cut Boston Strip, two out-of-the-ordinary cuts that we know you’ll love. Your New Year’s resolution will be kept – and kept well – at The Diamond Grille.

Cabin Club. A cozy cabin, looking a little like a Northwoods hideaway, Cabin Club fulfills your righteous resolution to Eat More Steak with Steak Christopher (two tournedos of beef topped with sautéed shrimp, asparagus and Bearnaise sauce), Blackened Bleu Delmonico (the famous steak with house spices, crusted with bleu cheese), and Beef Short Ribs (with buttermilk smashed potatoes and Burgundy jus). Aren’t you sorry you didn’t think of making this excellent resolution to Eat More Meat before now?
