Bryant & Cooper Steakhouse - Roslyn
Gillis and George Poll hail from a prominent New York City-based, food service family business dating back to the 1920s. The brothers branched off on their own in 1980 when they opened the now shuttered Pappas Restaurant. From there, they opened a collection of eateries, including Majors Steakhouses, Cipollini Trattoria & Bar, Toku Modern Asian, Bar Frites Restaurant, Hendrick's Tavern and Bryant & Cooper Steakhouse.
Bryant & Cooped, located in Long Island, opened in 1986 and exudes a classic steakhouse setting of hard wood accents, white tablecloths and hyper-masculine images throughout the space. Daily specials are scribbled on a chalkboard, and the regular menu is composed of traditional steakhouse favorites.
Highlights range from prime steaks (boneless prime rib, Porterhouse, veal chops, etc.) to seafood entrees such as lemon sole and crabmeat-stuffed shrimp. Side orders are meant to be shared; order from a variety of offerings such as creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, sauteed string beans and fried zucchini.
