Go big or go home is no doubt one of the unspoken mantras of Vegas. At Stack Restaurant and Bar, a modernized steakhouse with sleek, unique hardwood accents throughout the space, the surf and turf specialty is one of its signature dishes. It certainly is a showstopper.

They call it the "ultimate surf & turf for two" at this fashionable restaurant inside the Mirage Resort & Casino. It consists of two pounds of cracker-and-shrimp stuffed Maine lobster, 32 ounces of porterhouse steak, and two side dishes. Additional "land" choices range from organic roast chicken with mashed potatoes to rack of lamb topped with chimichurri.

"Sea" options at Stack include seafood risotto in a saffron broth, miso-glazed salmon, and grouper topped with crawfish etoufee.

Restaurant is very well done but the light rock music doesn’t fit the romantic ambiance of the soft lighting and fine dining woodwork, etc.. Prices are high which I don’t mind but compared to a steak I ate last night at a different hotel, this New York Strip fell short. I asked for medium and it came medium-rare, and way too much fat on it than I normally see. Wasn’t bad tasting or terrible, just not as thrilling as my less expensive New York Strip that I had last night. Kyle our server was very good and accommodated a table move right after we were seated because the first table was very tight space and left us sitting right next to each other rather than across. I didn’t dress fancy and from the looks of it most guests did, so you may want to not wear jeans and a t-shirt like I did. My wife had the Tuna Tartar. The flavor of the tuna was good, but the topping felt like an ice cream which it didn’t complement the tuna. The chips which came with the tuna tasted a bit stale also.

Visiting from Houston. My boyfriend is the hardest person to please when it comes to restaurant food… the tomahawk ribeye with stuffed lobster was the “best steak he’s ever had”. Drinks were great. Service even better. Couldn’t say a bad thing even if I wanted to. So glad we went here over the other steakhouse.
