Ocean Prime - Chicago
Ocean Prime is famed restaurateur Cameron Mitchell's first restaurant in Chicago. Estimated at 12,350 square feet, the sprawling steakhouse will be on the second floor of The Shops at LondonHouse, which is adjacent to the LondonHouse Chicago hotel.
The restaurant group had apparently had its sights set on a Windy City outpost for years, and finally settled on this prominent corner overlooking the Chicago River and Michigan Avenue. Inside, guests should expect large-scale photographs with a nod to iconic local personalities. There are also transparencies of Chicago architecture featured throughout the space, and beautiful black and white paintings by a local artist. Metallic pillars, chandeliers and marble bar tops punctuate the dramatic atmosphere.
Decadent standouts on this steak-centric menu include choices like white truffle caviar deviled eggs, prime roll (tempura shrimp, cream cheese, scallion, beef carpaccio), blackened snapper, Florida grouper with crispy garlic potatoes and a pork porterhouse.
For those looking for discounted fare, Ocean Prime offers happy hour 4-6pm Monday through Friday. Guests get half off on all appetizers, sushi and oysters in the lounge. On Sundays, the restaurant offers a special two-course surf & turf menu with an eight-ounce filet and and choice of “surf” and side.
There are 14 Ocean Prime locations throughout the country, including Washington, D.C., Boston, Beverly Hills, Philadelphia, Detroit, Dallas, Denver and Columbus, Ohio.
