Bashaw's Steakhouse & Seafood Austin

This place is a SHOCKER. They just blasted this email claiming the pandemic is over and that masks don't work. So now we know that in addition to the worst...

We had an amazing experience last night! The entire staff was attentive and professional. My wife had the sea bass and loved it. My sons and I had the filet mignonette and it was insanely delicious. It was very flavorful and all of our meals were cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was very charming and the entertainment was great. We met the new manager who was very friendly and he seems eager to make this place soar. If you haven’t tried it yet you will not be disappointed. It is fairly pricey but we were not disappointed. We will definitely make another trip from Georgetown to eat here!

It was our first time at Bashaw’s. It’s a small, intimate place, but very nice. We decided to go there for our anniversary. The food we had was delicious! The entertainment was wonderful. There was a “Frank Sinatra” singer and he was so good. We had a memorable anniversary and will be going back again.

Atmosphere is fantastic. Service is fine, could be better if the servers talked more about the menu, think a spiel when approaching the table to walk through the menu would be best. Menu could be much more aesthetically pleasing. Food was over priced for flavor. Be harder on your servers, make them use descriptive words walking customers through the menu to make items sound enticing hitting on the key areas. Make a better looking menu. Make every bite of your food so damn good your begging your hand to put the next bite in your mouth. Do all this and you will have a waitlist every night.

Excellent! We've been several times and love it more with each visit. The live music is perfect setting for this classic steakhouse.

Several friends had boasted about Barshaw's and we have been wanting to check it out. The located in a strip center and not much to say about the entry....

This is not what you might expect. Although steakhouse prices, that is where the reference ends. The ambiance is a huge miss. You can disregard everything...

Our second stop at Bashaws was very good, but a slight step backwards.  Don't get me wrong, it was still very good!  To start, we ordered a couple of different cocktails from the "craft cocktail" menu, the Watermelon & Lavender Martini and a Key Lime Pie on the Rocks.  Both cocktails hit the bullseye.  The fried calamari appetizer was delicious.  We tried both the lobster bisque and the French onion soup:  both of the soups were extraordinary.  We opted to split a salad as a third course, the mixed green salad ... fresh greens, cranberries, nuts, feta cheese, with a wonderful vinaigrette dressing on the side.  The salad was fantastic.  We ordered the ala carte lobster tail, and that was the disappointment of the evening.  The lobster tail was translucent, and rather tasteless, like it had been in the freezer for a bit.  The drawn butter on the side was actually some butter with a scoop of something in it.  (See picture).  Regular drawn butter was requested and came immediately.  The lobster tail was a culinary miss ... especially for the $$$$ price tag.  On the other hand, the blackened salmon filet was 110% on point, well seasoned and cooked to perfection.  We enjoyed a bottle of Barnard Griffin Rose with dinner, it was very good, served at the perfect temperature, and kept chilled on the table.  Live music was available for the evening, so we hung out for a bit after we finished dinner.  We tried the Lemon Drop and Thin Mint martinis, and both were awesome.  As usual, the service was outstanding, attentive, but not intrusive, thank you Sean B.!  Aside from the lobster tail misstep, we had a wonderful evening, and will go back ... skipping the lobster tail next time!  LOL

Bashaw’s is a 5 star dining experience, mostly because Bubba Bashaw makes it so. Bashaw’s is EXACTLY what it’s meant to be! One man’s passion, obviously a dream many years in the making, recently debuted in a little strip mall in NW Austin. Our first visit to Bashaw’s was FANTASTIC! Bubba Bashaw is onsite, very visible, and chats with every guest. When was the last time you experienced that in Austin?! Thanks for an awesome evening, Mr. Bashaw! The craft cocktail menu is new and refreshing, quite unlike the menus in the most chic Austin establishments these days. The Raspberry Lemon Drop and PB&J Martini were great! It was difficult to choose from the appetizer menu, but we settled on the beef carpaccio, exquisite tenderloin served with a tangy arugula salad on the side. A wedge salad followed ... the house made blue cheese dressing was sublime, the drizzle of balsamic vinegar was the perfect accent. For entrees, we enjoyed the ribeye and sea bass. The steak was broiled to perfection, the garlic crust option was a fresh take on steaks and worked very well! The sea bass was fantastic, but may have been upstaged by the creamy mushroom rice served on the side. A top restaurant excels throughout the menu, even the side dishes. As good as the mushroom rice was, it was equally matched by the au gratin mashed potatoes. Smooth, creamy, cheesy! Need I say more? The wine list at Bashaw’s, while not exhaustive, is well thought through, offering very reasonably priced selections of many varietals from all over the world. We selected a white wine from Israel (how many wine lists in Austin offer Israeli wines?), it was fantastic! We passed on dessert this time around, but plan to get back to Bashaw’s very soon, and we’ll save room for the final course on our next visit. Service was great, attentive but not intrusive. Thank you Jenna! Ken Kruse provided live music, a Sinatra song list, that created wonderful ambiance. Thanks Ken! Bashaw’s was packed with patrons from the moment we got there, until the moment we left. Reservations are definitely recommended to get a table, so make yours today. After joining the Nextdoor App, we had come across a posting by the owner, Bubba Bashaw. On a whim, last Tuesday evening, we decided to "take a drive" over to the Jester area, as it's a mere 4-minute hop from home. The intention was to stop in, take a look at the menu, and check out the establishment. The first thing that caught my eye was the sea of elegant white linens adorning the tables of the cozy outdoor patio area. Now intrigued, we stepped inside and were greeted immediately by smartly-dressed staff in black and white uniforms. The initial feeling was - wow - this isn't Austin? We were transported back to our New York experience from a few years ago. The scene: a gorgeous bar & restaurant, chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, and dim mood lighting ... a throwback to the Rat Pack days. My husband and I looked at each other and in an instant decided - yes - we are staying for dinner! We were seated at a high-top table with a perfect view of the STAGE - and were reminded that we would be in for a treat with some live music. Our server, Jazmine, started us off with Mexican Martinis (absolutely fabulous!) and we sipped on those as we reviewed the menu. While deciding on our shared appetizer of calamari, we enjoyed a basket of warm bread and butter (another helping followed). Our entrees would be the 14-ounce ribeye for my husband and the salmon for myself. Tables filled up and live music started playing as we gleefully anticipated a great evening. Mr. Bashaw came to our table, introduced himself and shared a few stories with us. Most of all, he wanted to ensure we were enjoying our food, the ambiance, and our overall experience. To our surprise, two fresh Mexican Martinis arrived shortly thereafter. During dinner, he passed by again to ask how everything was (as we noticed he had done throughout the night with all the other patrons). What a gracious host! Our food was delicious and the service was absolutely impeccable. The staff was very personable and attentive and the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable. As we contemplated dessert ... (whopping pieces of chocolate cake and New York cheesecake) Mr. Bashaw took to the stage, and, to our surprise, Frank Sinatra's booming voice came alive ... what fun! From there, guests were invited to take to the stage and showcase a song or two. Dylan, another server, nonchalantly made his way to the stage (wearing an apron over his uniform and a bowtie) as he effortlessly belted out a perfect version (or even better) of Chris Stapleton's "Tennessee Whiskey" to jaws dropping and eyes popping ... what a talent! Suffice to say, after 3.5 hours of a "dining experience," we drove home with giant smiles and full tummies and haven't stopped talking about it since. Can't wait to go back!
