Marcel - Atlanta
Ford Fry's Atlanta-based steakhouse is named in honor of Marcel Cerdan, an iconic French fighter who endured ring rumbles, war and a famous affair with French chanteuse Edith Piaf.
Marcel's dining room is designed to look like it's been around for a very long time. Low-slung ceilings, hardwood floors and cozy leather booths in burgundy add to the classic steakhouse's appeal. Those booths are roomy enough for a few friends who are certain to be enticed by seafood towers stacked high with oysters, cocktail shrimp, king crab, chilled lobster and more.
While that's a great start to the evening--or lunch--nothing beats a great steak, and Marcel serves a number of prime cuts. That ranges from an eight-ounce filet to a 42-ounce Porterhouse serving up to four. Also of note is the beef Wellington, which must be ordered 24 hours in advance. The decadent puffed pastry's filled with Chateaubriand, mushroom duxelles and prosciutto.
There's also a late-night menu that includes a soft-crab omelet, cheeseburger, steak frites and king crab fondue.
