Josephine Street - San Antonio
Josephine Street is one of those places that's been around for so long that it's a part of the city's fabric. Situated in San Antonio's revered Gruene Historic District, the roadhouse-style restaurant was established in 1979 in the former home of the Fincke's Meat Market building.Read More
Known by regulars as "Jo Street," it's of course filled with old-school charm and character. From a 500-year-old tree situated in the center of the dining room to the slightly uneven wood floor to a vintage Fincke's neon sign, the setup is such that it aptly transports guests to another era.
Classic Americana fare fits right into the setting. Everything is oversized, sharable and fun to eat. Deep fried stuffed jalapeños, onion rings and tomatillo-avocado dip are a few ways to get guests warmed up to the entrees.
All steaks are topped with a signature, "Austin Hoffbrau"-style lemon butter. Choices range from a 12-ounce USDA prime New York strip to a bacon-wrapped filet.
There are daily specials at Jo Street, including during lunch, happy hour, and Tuesdays for "customer appreciation night" when diners get $2 off entrees priced at least $10.95.
