1718 Steak House - San Antonio

So much history may be absorbed while enjoying dinner and drinks at 1718 Steak House, a classic eatery with premium views of the Alamo. Situated in a historic property just steps away from the site where Texans defeated the Mexican Army at the Battle of San Jacinto, the restaurant pays homage to the year San Antonio was established.

The restaurant also pays tribute to the Chicago steak-focused establishments of yesteryear by serving Stock Yard Steaks. The company started as a family business in 1893 by the Pollack family and specializes in USDA prime beef.

The grill features four different cuts: filet mignon, rib-eye, New York strip and a bone-in cowboy rib-eye. And for those abstaining from steak, there are other choices like lobster tail, blackened salmon, and a bourbon-glazed chicken breast over mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables.

Well we made a reservation at 8pm. Upon arrival we were told our table was being cleaned and it would be another 10 minutes. No biggie, we did have an awesome view of the Alamo. However everything went downhill from there. From waiting over 20 minutes to get our cocktails to waiting over an hour and fifteen minutes to get our food. If they were extremely busy I could understand but they weren't, in fact they were eerily dead. Our waiter was courteous and professional but seemed to not be getting any aid from the kitchen and or management. We ended up canceling our order after the hour and fifteen minute wait and closing out our drink tab, which also took a while. It's probably called 1718 Steak House because it takes 1,718 minutes to get your food.

Food tasted like Landry’s. No issue with taste of food or service. 12 oz stake from $30+ to $40+. Price does not include sides or drinks. Sides $10. Had 2 stakes 2 sides and water for 2 people. Ate everything and spent $160 including 20% tip and left hungry. We should have checked prices before going. Until they get more realistic with their prices i would not recommend this place to any one unless they like to throw money away

Beautiful view of the Alamo accompanied by some of the best steaks in the city! Truly one of the most amazing gems this city has to offer. Very underated compared to some other places in the area. I wouldn't get the cheese platter.. but when it come to steaks and drinks, it can't be beat!

I work here and i really enjoy my job. It has the greatest view of the alamo ive ever seen and the cuisine is absolutely superb. The staff is wonderful. You will have a great experience dining with us.

Steaks were good. Everything else was subpar. The view is cool but finding the place was a bit of a challenge. Overall, you're paying to dine across from the Alamo. Service was mediocre. Prices were too extreme. Not worth it in my opinion. Won't come back.
