Ruth's Chris Steak House - Austin

In a city teeming with exciting nightlife and live-music options, Ruth's Chris Steak House feels right at home. It's located in the heart of the downtown district, and its remodeled interior makes it appealing for the business crowd as well as local scene-makers.

This location is within walking distance of the Texas State Capitol, Austin Convention Center, University of Texas Austin and Congress Avenue Bridge. It's also near La Zona Rosa Music Hall, ACL Live at the Moddy Theater, Austin Music Hall, 2nd St. shopping, Rainey St., the downtown Farmers Market, Barton Springs, Zilker & Graffitti Park, Warehouse District bars and 6th Street bars.

The Austin outpost has been redesigned to reflect the vibrant Austin scene. Local artwork anchors the space, while new custom light fixtures inspired by those found in the French Quarter give a nod to the chain's NOLA roots, creating a medley of two musical cities. The cocktail bar offers a playful vibe and is now a destination of its own. Natural birch dividers and richly aged leather accents complement white quartz walls and large, tufted booths.

All steaks and chops are broiled and arrive to tables sizzling on a 500 degree plate. Guests may choose from an eight-ounce filet mignon to a 40-ounce Porterhouse for two. Those considering adding a little umph to their steak should order the signature Ruth's dipping trio, which consists of black truffle butter, shiitake demi-glace and honey soy glaze.

Ruth's Chris features a number of specialty dishes. Most notably is the stuffed chicken breast, a free-range, double-breasted chicken that's been oven roasted, stuffed with garlic herb cheese and topped with lemon butter. It's a fan favorite.

There's also the barbecued shrimp entree that's been sautéed New Orleans style in reduced white wine, butter, garlic and spices; pan-roasted Chilean sea bass served over sweet potato and pineapple hash; and blue crab cakes served with sizzling lemon butter.

For those looking for budget bites and booze, coming to Ruth's Chris during happy hour is a great option. There are discounted wines by the glass, cocktails and craft beer as well as a number of appetizers.
