Eddie Merlot's - Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh outpost for Eddie Merlot's is situated on the premises of Four Gateway Center, a well-known skyscraper built in 1960. It's downtown, of course, which means that it's frequented by a healthy dose of business travelers and locals who work in the area.

Founded by Bill Humphries, a well-known wine connoisseur who was a whiz at selecting the wine for his corporate dining companions, the steakhouse-focused eatery was named in honor of one of his favorite dining companions. Ed was a big merlot fan, thus the name was born.

In addition to its strong emphasis on wine, Eddie Merlot's specializes in prime-aged steaks and fresh seafood. All steaks are aged a minimum of 21 days, hand-selected and primarily cut in-house. They range from a 16-ounce prime ribeye to a 16-ounce bone-in filet mignon. There are also a number of reserve cuts, including Greg Norman's signature "wagyu" beef, as well as bison filet mignon and bone-in bison ribeye.

Non-meat options are also aplenty at Eddie Merlot's. They include vegetarian pan-seared gnocchi, cedar-roasted salmon and crab-stuffed shrimp.
