There’s no better time than winter to indulge those hearty, boozy happy hour cravings. When everyone’s in comfort food mode, it’s an apt time of year to get off work early and linger at your favorite neighborhood joint for some food and drink specials. Fortunately, Philadelphia is filled with happy hour options all over town, and the city’s steakhouses offer some of the best deals. Here’s where to enjoy happy hour in Philly’s best steakhouses.

Barclay Prime
Barclay Prime

Barclay Prime: Cocktails, wine, beer and bites are all well represented at Barclay Prime’s expansive happy hour, which runs weekdays from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Drinks include crafty, flavorful cocktails like The Crony, which blends rye whiskey with tobacco-infused vermouth and sorghum syrup. Or the verdant Taking Bribes, with tequila, carrot-ginger cordial, apple liquor and lemon. Wine pours include Prosecco, Pinot Grigo and Cabernet Sauvignon, and beers range from Amstel Light to Stella Artois. Food-wise, expect budget-friendly plates like Alaskan king crab rolls, sweet potato chips, aged beef sliders and loaded tater tots emboldened with bacon and truffle “whiz.”

Ocean Prime: In addition to a full-fledged lounge menu, which has numerous casual options like char-broiled oysters, crab cake sliders and Gouda tater tots, Ocean Prime runs a happy hour promo on weekdays called “Shake, Shuck & Pop.” Available from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., this include $10 vodka cocktails, $1 East Coast oysters, $12 glasses of Veuve Clicquot, $10 select pours of red and white wine and $5 domestic beers.

Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse: Available in the bar area, happy hour at Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse runs the gamut from flatbreads to calamari. Altogether, these are hearty portions for non-hearty prices, making it quite the bang for your buck. Linger in the bar area over rib-eye and blue cheese flatbreads with horseradish sauce, grilled dry-aged sirloin sliders, oysters on the half shell or classic margherita flatbreads with tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, garlic oil, shallots and basil.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House: One of the most diverse happy hour menus in Philadelphia can be found at Ruth’s Chris, a seasoned steakhouse with a penchant for crowd-pleasing. As evidenced by its varied discounted selections of seared ahi tuna, crab beignets, roasted chicken sandwiches, zucchini fries, spicy shrimp and drinks like Cosmopolitans, martinis, Manhattans and gin smashes.

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse: While Del Frisco’s may not peddle a designated happy hour menu, they do have a budget-friendly bar food menu that should fit the bill quite nicely. Especially considering the top-notch quality of ingredients and the array of options. Like oysters Rockefeller, pan-seared scallops with couscous, filet medallions, shrimp and crab spring rolls and even cheesesteak dumplings in crispy wontons.
