The Diamond Grille - Akron
What's known as downtown Akron, Ohio's oldest restaurant is still going strong--long after it served its first steak in 1941. The Diamond Grille has been a local celebrity and high-profile draw throughout the years under the leadership of founder Nick Thomas Sr. and now Nick Jr.
The decor, of course, is comprised of a classic steakhouse atmosphere with white tablecloths and plenty of hardwood accents. It complements the classic menu, which begins with standard starters such as French onion soup, oysters on the half shell and double thick peppered bacon.
All steak offerings are USDA prime, with such standards as a royal filet mignon, Porterhouse and Boston strip. Non-steak enthusiasts may choose from a number of daily fish options, sauteed chicken and broiled African lobster tails.
A wine menu and classic cocktail choices like the Manhattan and Brandy Alexander complete the experience.
