Embers - Madeira
This contemporary, globally inspired steakhouse opened with a bit of a twist in 2004. In addition to showcasing prime steaks and seafood, Embers also offers a nice selection of sushi. The warm, inviting atmosphere -- as its name implies -- is created with stacked-stone torch and gas lanterns outside and fireplaces and glowing candles inside.

Starters sound promising. They range from items like rotisserie chicken spring rolls and tempura shrimp to a host of maki rolls. There, you'll find the classics like spicy tuna, California, and Philadelphia, plus originals such as kobe that's topped with grilled kobe beef, avocado, salmon, crab, and jalapenos.
Steak specialties consist of a pan-seared filet and "au poivre" prime New York strip. And Ember signature dishes are fun and flavorful. A big seller is baby back ribs two ways: Diners may order them Vietnamese style with lemongrass glaze or in the Southern tradition with barbecue sauce.
