Uncle Jack's

Uncle Jack's - Queens

Uncle Jack gets around, with eponymous steakhouses in several locations in New York City, all serving the same high-quality red meat, carefully curated and dry aged, some of the best steak in the city. With a beautiful wood bar, Tiffany lamps and USDA prime beef, Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse in Bayside serves beef to people who know – and love – steak.

“New York Magazine” seems pleased with Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse, which, we are told, “opened in the 1930s as a speakeasy founded by the current owner’s uncle. The soft glow of fringed lamps, an embossed copper ceiling, paisley banquettes, and a polished mahogany bar sustain the antique effect, as does the menu, dominated by dry-aged beefsteaks, with pride of place ceded to the 48-ounce porterhouse (for two) and the Kobe beef, hand-massaged in sake. A more manageable rib-eye arrives well-charred, doused in peppery Cajun sauce, and sliced, as are all the steaks. Old-school sides include creamy, nutmeg-flecked spinach. Some appetizers venture out on a limb, with satisfying results: Decadent oysters on the half shell are topped by pungent melted Roquefort, spinach, and salty pancetta bits.”

That’s high praise for a place that consistently gets a lot of praise from the many, many people who dine there every day.

Departing from the paradigmatic steak house menu, Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse in Bayside offers a lunch with some very un-steak-house-like menu items, including scratch biscuits, housemade ricotta in a jar, omelet, French toast bread pudding, and other relatively lightweight choices for mid-day meals.

As at all Uncle Jack’s locations, there are private dining areas for lunch or dinner, with or without cocktails. Uncle Jack’s is the kind of place where you can hold a family or a business event and be sure that everyone will find something they like on the menu.

To say that Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse in Bayside is “safe” is not to diminish what a fine place it is for steak; it’s simply also a fine place with many menu items that are sure to please many, and you’ll be glad you visited there.
