Morton’s The Steakhouse

Morton’s The Steakhouse - Rochester

There’s probably no more powerful a name in American steak houses than Morton’s The Steakhouse, the well-known name, with locations across the country, serving the best USDA steak, done perfectly, in a sophisticated yet casual environment. The best steak, the best service and the best place to have a great time, Morton’s The Restaurant stands alone.

There’s a new breed of steakhouses that aims to present steak in sleek and swanky surroundings, with clean lines and new age elegance. Morton’s The Steakhouse is not that kind of place for steak: it’s unabashedly old school, rooted in tradition and serving its excellent meat and sides in a time-honored atmosphere, supported by superior service and unsurprising excellence.

Morton’s The Steakhouse in Rochester is a relatively new outpost of the internationally known restaurant chain, and it’s located in the downtown area at Rochester’s Hyatt Regency – proving, if nothing else, that superior restaurants can sometimes, indeed, be found in hotels. Upholding the Morton’s The Steakhouse tradition of “The Best Steak…Anywhere,” this new location aims to be, and most definitely is, “a higher standard of steakhouse.”

Morton’s The Steakhouse in Rochester maintains the proud tradition with everything you could ask for in a steakhouse.

Starters range from the traditional – jumbo shrimp, crab meat cocktails and other predictable beginnings – to the cautiously innovative, including short rib steak tacos and prosciutto wrapped mozzarella.

The soups and salads are all exactly what you’d expect…and superb: Caesar and beefsteak tomato, onion and lobster bisque.

Then the steaks, oh the steaks (!): center cut filet, porterhouse, New York strip and rib eye, all done to the level of perfection you’d expect at one of the very best steakhouses in the New York area…and the world.

The sides include the usual asparagus, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and mushrooms, but all done so unusually well that they will set the standard for all such sides to come.

At this particular Morton’s The Steakhouse location in Rochester, the opening general manager is also the sommelier, if that’s any indication of the high level of wine service you can expect at this undeniably high level steak restaurants.
