Roots Steakhouse - Ridgewood
The original Roots Steakhouse in downtown Summit was founded in 2006. It's a classic, stylish restaurant showcasing a decor worthy of its prime steaks and fresh seafood. From the pristine white tablecloths to reclaimed hardwood accents to vintage photos throughout the space, Roots appeals to young professionals as well as more seasoned diners. The partners eventually opened two additional Roots outposts in Morristown and Ridgewood.
The menu offers bountiful choices for steaks and chops, from a 48-ounce, dry-aged Porterhouse for two to a 16-ounce veal chop. Those preferring non-steak options may choose from roasted chicken stuffed with spinach and parmesan, pan-roasted Atlantic salmon and fried shrimp scampi.
Even dessert choices are plentiful. There's the signature warm butter cake topped with blueberry compote and fresh whipped cream as well as red velvet cake, a chocolate "tower" cake, and sundae made with chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, raspberry sauce, candied pecans and whipped cream.
