Roots Steakhouse Ridgewood

Family friendly. Food was tasty. Desert was delicious. Bartender was kind of loud, I couldn't hear my companion speak...we were seated across from the bar. Overall it was a great experience.

Pleasant steakhouse located on a fairly busy road in Ridgewood, NJ. I went on a night when they were busy with 2 large parties that had apparently taken up much of the kitchen's capacity, so there was a long delay in receiving my order, but I don't believe that is worth holding against the restaurant. My meal began with a savory popover, which arrived piping hot and wonderfully crispy. I ordered the French onion soup, which also arrived hot, but had partly spilled outside the crock it was served in onto the saucer (shown in picture). It was a good soup, but nothing worth writing home over. My main entree was the 16oz dry aged NY Strip steak, ordered medium with a side of their chorizo hash. The hash arrived in a separate dish, but I just combined everything onto one plate. It was overall a tasty meal, but the sear on the steak was a little too heavy, in my opinion. It was slightly charred. The internal temperature was perfect, though. The hash tastes just like what you think of when I say "home fries, sauteed white onions, and chorizo." Overall, my meal was good, but given the prices here, and its proximity to a restaurant like The Capital Grille, I would recommend passing. While this is a good spot, I believe your money would be better spent at some of the other nearby high-end steakhouses. Still, my waitress was wonderfully attentive and kind and this was still a good experience. I just don't think it's worth the price given the nearby alternatives.

The steak was buttery tender and delicious. We ordered a porterhouse for two medium. We got potatoes au gratin and supreme spinach on the side. The French onion soup for an appetizer was banging. Everything that we got was delicious and well done. Everything was also very well seasoned. The wait staff were incredible and although we didn't drink the bartender knew how to play the room. Great time, great experience and great food!!

A classy, elegant, place that completely lived up to the hype. I have walked by hundreds of times, but I'm glad I finally gave it a try. They bring delicious bread to the table to start and the wine list is pretty good. The main steaks all run about $50 and they are fantastic. There is a bar at the front with some booths and a quieter dining area farther back. The wall to the kitchen is made of glass so there is no mystery about where your food is coming from. I'm not fancy enough to visit often, but I will not soon forget my meal there.

We always enjoy Roots steakhouse! You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! Their shrimp cocktail appetizer has huge shrimp but only comes with 3 so we usually ask for an extra shrimp. We’ve had numerous entrees & they have not disappointed us! Be careful when you accept the popover. We’ve had delicious ones but then a couple of times we’ve had some that were over cooked & couldn’t eat them. The service has always been good!

Roots steakhouse is a great place for a romantic dinner, family gathering or even just a night out. It’s an experience that is worth savoring. The staff is wonderfully helpful and very attentive. Justine, my server was fantastic and the food was something I’ll never forget.

Went there for a lovely valentines dinner. Staff was great and the food delicious. we were seated in the back room which gave us the opportunity to peek at the kitchen as we went past. The room was pretty if a tad cold. Not wanting to complain I didn't mention the temperature until ordering dessert and coffee as I asked the waiter to make sure the coffee was very hot as the room was very cold. Almost immediately the manager appeared and apologized for the temperature and could he please buy us dessert. Not only did the chocolate cake appear but 2 more plates (Carrot Cake, mammoth OMG!! and their signature Butter Cake). Way more than we could eat but everything was great. THANK YOU LARRY!! You made a good experience GREAT!! what could have been forgettable is now totally memorable. Cant wait to come back. P.S. thanks from my son as he enjoyed the leftover desserts immensely and immediately.

The service was top notch. We went on Valentine's weekend and it was extremely busy and our server still took very good care of us! I had the dry aged rib eye with peppercorn crust and it was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be going back!

My first time coming here and I love it! The food was incredible And the drinks are fantastic! The bartender Alex was fabulous and recommended drinks to my liking and my friends as well and the environment was beautiful! I Will be back in the near future.

Amazing food, drinks, and staff is great once you walk in the door. Alex hands down is the best bartender, makes your drinks correctly, if youre unsure what you want he recommends something to your liking. Fantastic experience coming here, and will be back!!!! 5/5 stars
