Rod's Steak and Seafood Grille - Morristown
Few steakhouses feature early-bird menus, which is one of many reasons why Rod's stands apart from its competitors. Classic in design and style, with vintage light fixtures, wood paneling and more enhancing its authenticity, the restaurant is tucked inside The Madison Hotel. That's a treat for the eyes unto itself, as this landmark is set amidst a countrified and tranquil setting.
For a unique experience, diners are encouraged to book reservations aboard the parlour cars, which are restored, turn-of-the-19th century railway cars adjacent to the dining room. That's an ideal setting to indulge in one of the offerings from the steak menu, a past winner of New Jersey Monthly's "best steak" award. Rod's has also received Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence for 15 consecutive years.
In addition to the steak menu, which showcases a 26-ounce Porterhouse, 24-ounce Delmonico chop and filet mignon, Rod's boasts a number of house favorites. Not feeling steak tonight? Check out the restaurant's roast chicken, penne pasta with lobster or crusted Atlantic salmon.
As previously mentioned, the daily, three-course prix-fixe menu, which is $28 per person, is a big neighborhood favorite. Guests get to choose from the likes of mini crab cakes, the signature meatloaf and New York-style cheesecake.
