Jax Cafe - Minneapolis
The family-owned-and-operated Jax Cafe boasts a legacy dating back to 1910. That's when great-grandfather Stanley Kozlak built the restaurant in the same venue housing a local dance hall as well as his furniture, hardware, and funeral services.
Read MoreWhile the tradition of the restaurant continues, it's also been updated to include a popular Sunday brunch as well as expanded menu items. Some of the highlights include an 18-ounce ribeye served over crispy hash browns, and topped with sautéed mushrooms and onions; Uncle Joe's prime rib sandwich; and Alaskan king crab legs served with wild rice pilaf.
The seafood program at Jax Cafe is especially notable because it's as fresh as it gets. The whole Maine lobster is fresh from the Jax salt water tank, and guests get to choose their own trout from the restaurant's garden stream mid-April through October.
