Stockyard Food & Spirit - Boston

American-focused restaurant and tavern Stockyard Food & Spirit brings new life to classic steakhouse fare and it's been doing so for more than 40 years. While it boasts a number of signature dishes familiar to many diners frequenting steakhouses, Stockyard also shakes up the menu with offerings such as a lobster "casserole" of oven-baked fresh Maine lobster and corn soufflé to keep customers intrigued.

As far as steak choices, all of the beef cuts are hand selected, and are either certified prime-grade or are in the top 10 percent of the choice grade from corn-fed, local and Midwestern beef. The beef is also aged to ensure top quality flavor and texture. Most entrees are prepared with locally sourced ingredients.

The restaurant is viewable from the Mass Pike, and a 150-car parking lot, private function room and 200-seated dining area makes the Stockyard a Boston rarity.

Excellent ribeye and good prime rib. The fried clams are not so great. Very small whole bellies compared to many of the other major places. Cocktails were great and so was service. The horse radish cream was eh for the prime rib not recommended.

I loved this place. Everyone( bar team led by Kate and customers ) was family. The bartenders were committed to u being satisfied and happy. Now, u will sit at the bar for 10min without a nod, steak tips are so over marinated that they taste like liiver, and no one knows your name.

The service was impeccable. I feel like the prime rib was a little bit over priced, running in concert with it's being over cooked. The shrimp cocktail, presented in a massive bowl field of ice, was dwarfed by the presentation. And the shrimp, while not tiny, might have enjoyed a larger per piece size or total quantity to deserve such a vast amount of resources for its display, and the $20 price tag. It would have been delightful to see some seasoning or garnish with the whipped/mashed potatoes, which was presented without fanfare at all. As the meal progressed I could sense that they were jealous of the shrimp.

Resturant dining perfection! Can not rave enough about this historic Boston establishment. Our waitress was just exceptional..period. Kudos💐 to Marilyn who guided us through our 1st of many dining experiences! Worth IT$

Always loved this place. Had my rehearsal dinner there 15 years ago. Hadn't been in a long time. Food was great. Our server amazing. Only thing I would change is not to put families on those high top tables. Very uncomfortable.

Incredible steak house and service! I had the pleasure of being served by Olive who was exceptional. Always two steps ahead and very fast service. The restaurant has a great ambiance and the espresso martini is a must. I ordered the French onion soup, steak tips, and creamed spinach side. Loved everything!

I got the lobster pie the market price was $54. It came with corn pudding and drawn butter. It was good just not the best I’ve ever had. I also had scallop & spinach appetizer and a spicy margarita that were both good.

🦞Really nice place! Great food & service!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We like to go here when we have a larger group, we rent the private rooms for special occasions; weddings, birthdays, etc. They can accommodate many ppl & run smoothly. My absolutely favorite dish that they serve-> The Lobster pie=👍 SO FRESH & JUST AMAZING!🥧

A highly recommended restaurant! We ordered french onion soup, tuna tartare, lump crab cake, steak tips, prime rib availability “Saturday”, and lobster pie. These entrees are all recommended. The price of prime seems a little high. But the portion is huge! And more importantly, it tasted really good, rich flavored and tender. The tuna tartare is very fresh and I like the texture of diced raw tuna. The guacamole at the bottom was very creamy. If I have another chance to come again, of course I will try others in the menu. If I invite friends to have a dinner, I would order the same things ‘cause I know there were good!

A large rustic venue, I was delighted with the service, food, and drinks. Manhattan and espresso martini both were well crafted, appetizers were well flavored and not over cooked (the calamari was spot on), and then finally came my 20 oz bone in ribeye steak. While I really enjoyed it, I wish my crust was more defined and seasoned, but it is a minor nitpick as I know it was freshly cooked and exactly to medium rare. Plus a small dash of salt and freshly packed pepper brought it up to what I expected. If I return, I'll be trying a smaller main course, and expecting a large hit to my wallet.

It was packed on a Thursday night. Live music, and great service. It is noisy, so it may be hard to carry a conversation with those at your table, but that’s just the atmosphere. The food was great! Expect to spend $50-$60 per plate, but well worth it.

A Boston-area icon, as far as I'm concerned...it's loomed over the Mass Pike since the 70s. Long story short: The atmosphere is great (old, cozy, dark-wood steakhouse vibe) and the food is "solid" if not spectacular. But you don't go here for a stuffy, Michelin-starred meal...you go here for a fun night with friends or family, with steaks and comfort food and cold beers...or a gigantic, excellent Manhattan, like I enjoyed. (This seems trivial, but in the area it's not: the gigantic parking lot makes going here easy and stress-free...no hunting for spaces or worrying about feeding meters.)

Excellent service and great food. They don't always offer roast beef, but when they do, it is melt in your mouth tender (and huge, 16oz). Hard to believe anyone could have a negative experience here as they obviously take pride in going over and above to provide quality service.

Went for lunch, steak was great. Covid means that the Prime Rib is a Saturday only thing. Prices are higher but the place is renovated to be an upscale Steak House, especially for executive lunches (lots of wine). Can't complain and it's probably one of the few fancy places to eat in the area.
