18 Steak - Baton Rouge

Named in honor of Louisiana being named the 18th state, 18 Steak is situated in the L'auberge Casino Hotel. It boasts everything you'd expect from such a themed restaurant, from the decadent red booths centering the dining room to quirky light fixtures mixing vintage glam with modern sophistication. White tablecloths add a sense of fine dining elegance to an otherwise clubby atmosphere.

Maximize

The menu is as decadent as the restaurant's interior. Starter highlights include ricotta dumplings stuffed with lobster; a jumbo lump blue crab cake enhanced by a Creole remoulade; and Louisiana-style BBQ shrimp with Po'boy bread. There are also three preparations of Gulf oysters, including smoked oysters topped with a parmesan crust, herb butter, and tasso marmalade.

Beyond prime steaks, entrees ranges from scallops Carbonara with house-made Tagliatelle pasta and crispy lardon to grilled redfish on the half shell.

My husband brought me here to celebrate me passing my licensure exam and we were with some friends to celebrate someone’s birthday and we were all in awe with this place. The ambiance was really nice, our waiter was super nice and funny. They found and drinks were delicious! I’ll definitely be back, my steak was amazing along with the creamed spinach minus the egg in it.

We went to 18 Steak for my birthday, and all I can say is it is an experience. From the cocktails to dessert, it was one of the best meals ever! The service was also impeccable! Truly one of the best steaks I have ever eaten (and the creamed spinach was delicious!)

I just left there and I have to say it was not worth it at all. Went there as a party of 5 to celebrate 3 birthdays. They do nothing special for birthdays. We were there for 2.5 hours even though most of the tables were empty. Judging by how the food server gave us our plates, it seemed liked he didnt want to be there. All the steaks were cooked as ordered and the rest of the food was not bad, they were good but nothing spectacular to come back for. Then we ordered the bread pudding and chocolate torte for dessert. The bread pudding came in a nice bowl with the sauce poured by the server but the torte for some reason was in a plastic togo container and just tossed on the table. We were all confused on why they did that and we will never know because I'd rather spend my $479 elsewhere.

A couple of weeks ago we visited this restaurant. My husband and I had never eaten here. The couple we were with was more familiar with 18 Steak. Can I just say WOW!! What a meal and what great wait staff. Christina was our server and she was knowledgeable, professional and friendly!! She made sure we were comfortable, that we understood the choices of meats, etc. She even helped suggest a wine for the table. This is not a place that we will go to all the time as the prices are higher but in the end we felt like we received a delicious, quality meal and amazing customer service thanks to Christina!!

Ordered the Australian Wagyu expecting top tier steak...it wasnt in my opinion. The steak had a lot of gristle and was tough. I could not even tell it was an $80 steak. Ambiance of the restaurant was nice as it over looks the river, and so was our waiter, but it isn't something I'd go back to again especially to spend $300 and leave dissatisfied.

Waited over 45 minutes for a salad that looked like someone else had eaten it. Hard to get in sometimes. Excellent wait staff, and decent menu. The food is not consistent, and sometimes the meat is very under cooked. The last two weeks we went, the size in the cheesecake was 50% less within a week for the same price. I was very disappointed. Stay away from the “steak board experience” - they charge you extra to present on a board and for sauces they don’t actually put on the board. The meatballs are the best thing on the menu, but recently have been nearly raw in the center.

My wife and I came to celebrate our anniversary we are pregnant with our first child, we wanted to just have fun. Gavin the manager Evan our waiter was perfect and Christoper and his lovely wife asked about our due date. I cannot say enough positive things about our experience. Thank you guys!
