Steakhouse News: From Bubbles to Brunch

From wine dinners to brand new brunch, Chicago steakhouses are certainly keeping busy these days. Here’s the scoop on all the latest and greatest developments from Chicago’s steakhouse scene.

Bubbles & Blades Wine Dinner at STK

In partnership with J Vineyards & Winery, STK is serving up a tantalizing wine dinner experience on July 18. Of course, this being summer, it’s safe to expect that the focus will be on crisp, light and refreshing varietals, and indeed the restaurant has lined up some of the winery’s best bubbly for the occasion. As a unique added twist, the restaurant and winery reps will be demonstrating how to properly saber bottles of sparkling wine as well, which should add a little entertainment to the four-course meal. Other wines to be offered include Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. Seats are limited, so be sure and snag yours today by visiting here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bubbles-and-blades-an-stk-wine-dinner-tickets-47369358025

Happy Hour at Chicago Chop House

Now in its 32nd year, the iconic Chicago Chop House proves its still got a few tricks up its sleeve. Namely, the restaurant just rolled out a brand new happy hour for the first time, available in the historic bar. Unique among the city’s happy hour scene, which usually spans late afternoons on weekdays, the version at Chicago Chop House takes place seven days a week from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. During this window, appetizers are half priced, including favorites like baked oysters Rockefeller, crispy calamari and crab cakes. Cocktails are also 50% off, like the El Diablo with tequila and fresh blackberry puree, or the Capone with limoncello, Amaro and Prosecco.

In other Chicago Chop House news, the venerable mainstay is adding a speakeasy-style dining room on the third floor, called the “Reading Room,” plus a Victorian-inspired dining garden, both slated to debut later this summer.

Michael Jordan’s Restaurant Turns One

A suburban offshoot of downtown’s successful Michael Jordan’s Steak House, Oak Brook’s Michael Jordan’s Restaurant is celebrating its first anniversary in style this month. Throughout the entirety of July, the restaurant is serving up the most epic happy hour promotion, wherein all items on the happy hour menu are $1.23, a nod to the jersey number made famous by the restaurant’s namesake. Available Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., these discounted dishes include mini steak sandwiches, chicken wings, creamy bacon and onion dip, focaccia, calamari and “Little Mike Burgers.” While you’re at it, you might as well linger for dinner, especially since the kitchen just rolled out a new menu filled with summery items like pan-roasted salmon with poblano creamed corn and grilled chicken paillard with summer vegetable salad.

Prime & Provisions Launches Brunch

New brunch menus are a commonplace occurrence in Chicago, but rarely are they as mightily impressive as the tempting spread being served at Prime & Provisions. The Loop steakhouse recently added Sunday brunch to its weekly offerings, available from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Inspired by the crowd-pleasing success of Easter brunch and Mother’s Day brunch that the restaurant held, the new menu will feature various food stations throughout the dining rooms, all available for a set price of $59 per adult and $25 for children. For this price, guests have unlimited access to items like cinnamon French toast, house-flared bacon, eggs Benedict, omelet stations, filet tips and of course carving stations. This being a steakhouse, it’s safe to expect that the chef-driven carving stations loaded with prime rib and maple-glazed ham on the bone will be to die for. There’s also pastries, sandwiches, greens, a raw bar and a dessert tower. Drinks are a la carte and include all your brunch staples like mimosas, Bloody Marys and bellinis.
