Aloha Steak House - Honolulu

A pacific island is a fine place for fish, but sometimes what you crave is a big juicy steak. At Aloha Steak House, you can have fish as a starter (or even a main), but you definitely are going to want one of their steaks.

Honolulu magazine reports, "Aloha Steak House is cozy—just 48 seats with an additional private dining room that can seat another 10—and an ambiance that encourages selfies and shared plates. My dining mates and I immediately snapped a photo with the surfing cows and palm trees next to the words 'Beach and Beef' on the entrance wall."

Of course, Aloha Steak House is more than just "beach and beef," but both the beach and the beef are a big part of the experience. You will find, however, that in addition to the turf, there's a whole lotta surf to enjoy...and we mean fish and seafood. Smoked salmon carpaccio or a chilled lobster tail are excellent ways to start, or you may prefer more veg-forward dishes like the corn soup or local romaine Caesar salad. Surf and turf options include the NY sirloin, ribeye and filet, with garlic shrimp on top, an excellent sea and land one-two punch.

But let's talk the big meat. There's a lean 10 ounces of New York sirloin and a flavorful one pound ribeye. But if you're a maniac for meat, there are some monster selections that will test the limits of even your appetite. To wit: one pound of Big Island grass-fed ribeye and several increasingly larger tomahawks. It all starts with the two-pound tomahawk steak, and then the three-pound Megasteak, and the really big boy, the four-pound Gigasteak.

The watermelon self-serve bowl is an excellent dessert, and if your tastes tend toward the savory, consider the honey gorgonzola cheesecake. Before, during and after dinner, there's a sizable selection of beverages.
