When You’re at a Denver Steakhouse, and All You Want Is a Hamburger

You can get so much more than steak at a steakhouse, but if you’re going for red meat, it’s likely that steak is exactly what you’re going to order at Denver’s many red meat emporia. Some, however, prefer the “other red meat”: hamburger. Any restaurant that serves an excellent steak is very likely to serve an excellent hamburger, and the following Denver steakhouses serve hamburgers of such quality that you may forget that you went to the steakhouse for steak.

Elway’s Downtown. Setting the standard for steakhouse hamburgers, Elway’s Downtown lays out a magnificent range of options.  The Smashburger heads the line-up with cheddar cheese on a brioche bun, and from there, it’s all up. The Colorado 7X Wagyu Burger tops the patty of premium beef with roasted green chilies, asadero cheese and chipotle aioli for a super-pleasing bite of heat and spice. At the top is #7’s Favorite Burger, smoked gouda, bacon, an over-easy egg and shoestring potatoes, married together over a chef- prepared hamburger.

Buckhorn Exchange. For over 120 years, Buckhorn Exchange has been serving up tasty food that veers away from the fancy pants and goes straight for the simply satisfying with burgers that feature a half-pound of beef or buffalo meat. The options are dazzling. You can have these exceptional hamburgers Mexican style, with guacamole, green chilies and Monterrey Jack cheese, or try the Smokehouse with barbecue sauce, pickles and cheddar. Or the Canadian with the country’s namesake bacon and Swiss…or anyone of several other ways, each one guaranteed to satisfy that primal craving for ground beef on a bun.

Urban Farmer. At the upscale Urban Farmer, there’s an impressive collection of high-end offerings featuring seafood and steak, much of it carefully sourced from suppliers that focus on sustainable practices. Even among such high-end offerings, the folks at Urban Farmer know that some customers are going to want just one thing – a spectacular hamburger – and so they put a lot of love into The Farm Burger, including white cheddar, aioli and a beautifully crafted mound of ground beef, set upon a crisp and buttery brioche, one of the best burgers around.

Perry’s Steakhouse. The biggest advantage of ordering a hamburger at a high-quality steakhouse like Perry’s is that your all-beef patty will be composed of some of the highest quality steak meat you’ll find anywhere, frequently trimmed from pieces of beefsteak priced much higher than the humble burger composed of such precious “scraps.” So, it is at Perry’s Steakhouse, where you can go with the Butcher’s Blend Burger, a carefully composed patty of brisket, chuck and short-rib, each cut of meat bringing something different to the table, all of it delicious.

Eddie Merlot. At Eddie Merlot, the blending of steak cuts to make a great burger is taken to unheard of levels of deliciousness. Filet, New York strip and ribeye come together to yield some next-level hamburgers, unparalleled in their deliciousness. The Prime Burger is dressed with premium cheeses like cheddar, gorgonzola and Gruyere, and the cheddar, mushrooms, onion straws, and red wine sauce are studded with tenderloin chunks to boost the beef quotient, magnificent.
