Steak & Whiskey - Hermosa Beach
Hermosa Beach hot spot Steak & Whiskey lures in the spirits enthusiast with 10 customized whiskey lockers so diners will always have access to their favorite liquids at a moment's notice. It's owned by Blackhouse Hospitality's Jed Sanford and chef Tin Vuong, who are also the duo behind Little Sister, Abigaile, Wildcraft and Dia de Campo. Of course there is also the impressive modern steakhouse menu, which includes prime steak options, seafood and a few classic entrees.
For optimum flavor, the majority of S&W's steaks are dry aged for 30 days, from the 43-ounce prime Tomahawk to the eight-ounce New York block. There are plenty of accompaniments for those looking to add a bit of "umph" to their steaks: fresh summer truffles, salt-roasted whole prawn a salt-roasted whole prawn and more. And those wanting a non-steak entree may opt for the likes of truffle-stuffed Jidori chicken, a signature burger or roasted duck breast that comes with gingered wild rice.
While the whiskey list is comprehensive and deep--with strong attention paid to Japanese varieties--there is much attention also paid to the wine selections.
