The historic Mission Inn Hotel boasts a number of restaurants on its property, from a Mexican-influenced eatery to an Italian-focused trattoria and popular brunch destination. But it's Duane's--a recipient of the AAA-Four Diamond Award since 1996--that's the more formal out of the dining offerings.
Gentlemen are required to wear collared shirts and dress shoes (shorts and jeans are not permitted) at this steak-and-seafood-focused restaurant with a sleek, modern decor of warm, amber tones and notable wall art. It works well with a menu of classics that have been amped up for sophisticated palates.
Start with appetizers such as honey-garlic jumbo shrimp, sashimi Ahi tuna and lobster tempura (for two), and then move on to the main event of wet-aged USDA prime steaks and fresh seafood. Some of the highlights include Chateaubriand for two, double-cut lamb chops and grilled swordfish that arrives drizzled with stone-ground mustard sauce. Every Monday and Tuesday guests may indulge in 50 percent off any wine priced $100 and more when they purchase two entrees.
