Celebrity chef Curtis Stone and brother Luke had great inspiration for their European-style, chef-driven butcher shop and restaurant that's based in Los Angeles. Gwen is named in honor of their maternal grandmother, who lived on a farm outside of Melbourne, Australia.
That farm was where they were first exposed to livestock farming and learned how to respect animals. Both started their culinary careers in a butcher shop, and now their experiences have come full circle with Gwen.
This is the second restaurant for Curtis Stone, who also is behind the high-end New American eatery Maude in Beverly Hills. Gwen's main dining room is for tasting menus only, where diners may choose the three-, five- or 10-course options. Seasonal ingredients and side dishes pull from the nearby Hollywood Farmers Market. Those wishing for an a la carte experience may do so in the bar area.
