For Valentine’s Day, Say It with Steak at LA's Best Steakhouses

Though it’s close to the ocean, and the restaurants pull in a huge quantity of high-quality aquatic protein, the City of Angels boasts some of the finest red meat in the United States.

Steak is always a celebration, and when it comes to fine prime cuts, Los Angeles rolls out the red carpet every day of the year…and especially on Valentine’s Day, when many of LA’s best steakhouse whip up something a little special for this special day.

In addition to the big red heart filled with chocolate candy, you might want to give your Valentine a delicious piece of red meat. We’re here to help with that.

Cut. Wolfgang Puck’s Cut restaurant in the Beverly Wilshire strikes the right balance between luxury and casual comfort. For Valentine’s Day, Puck’s team is serving up a three-course fixed menu, specially designed by Chef Hilary Henderson ($195). After dinner, there’s a DJ and dancing in the lounge.

 

Bourbon Steak. Michael Mina, the James Beard award winning chef, is offering a three-course prix fixe menu that’s guaranteed to please ($98). The regular menu is getting a rest tonight, and the prix fixe lets you put in your order and then concentrate on the pleasure of his or her company. Of course, the piano bar will be open, and in the pleasantly appointed dining room, the Whisky Cart – and the good times – will be rolling.

 

Boa in West Hollywood is preparing some special surprises for Valentine’s Day. If you don’t like surprises, the a la carte menu will also be available so you and your date can order some of your Boa favorites. There’s a selection of prime Omaha Beef, including the ribeye, forty-day dry aged New York strip, and the Premium American Wagyu.

 

STK. From Thursday, February 14 through Sunday, February 17, STK is serving Valentine’s Day steaks, Surfs & Sweets, as well as the STK signature menu. Start with Shrimp Rice Krispies or Arugula, move to a surf and turf combo of ribeye and lobster tails, and finally hit the culinary climax with chocolate cheese cake, cherry mousse and Bourbon ice cream. In celebration of this special day, STK is offering the Love Potion Cocktail (let us know if it works).

 

Ocean Prime. The name of this restaurant may make it sound as though exceptional fish and seafood is what you get at Ocean Prime, and you will get that, some of the best, but you also get a lot more. Like steak. And not just beef. For Valentine’s Day, Ocean Prime in Beverly Hills is serving a fourteen-ounce Durham Ranch Bison ($64) and, of course, some outstanding seafood, like roasted sea bass over Alaskan king crab gnocchi with Champagne cream ($65). Right down the street from high fashion Rodeo Drive, Ocean Prime is a place to get dressed up and bring the one you love to eat the food of dreams.

 

The Royce Wood-FiredThe Royce Wood-Fired, a blend of high-style luxury and down-home comforts, presents a romantic four-course prix fixe menu ($140; with wine pairings, $195).
